Aqua Yoga (pool)
Learn ways to stretch, move and enjoy your body in the support of warm water, using classical yoga postures adapted for the water. This class is designed for soothing joint and muscle pain, as well as relieving stress. In the 92-degree, therapeutic pool, experience release, freedom and ease. Pre-registration is recommended. Celebrating Yoga Community
Dates: 2/19, 3/19 Guest Teachers TBA Facilitated by Tom Clark An Intermediate/Advanced class for exploring sequencing as a means of enriching our practice. An intermediate/advanced Yoga Practice designed for yoga instructors and seriously fun yogis and yoginis. Must be able to do Urdhva Danurasana and hand-stand against the wall unassisted. By donation. This monthly offering will provide an opportunity for advanced students to practice together. Tamarack Yoga Instructor, Tom Clark, will facilitate this series. Tom envisions a welcoming community of dedicated Yoga students, joining together in practice. Guest instructors TBA. All proceeds will be donated to Tamarack's ongoing scholarship program. |
Continuing Level Yoga
Emphasis on deepening awareness of the body, and understanding of alignment principles. Should be able to perform the Sun Salutation series. Movements are more flowing than in beginning classes. Knowledge of the basic poses is assumed, with posture variations and breathing practices to help you deepen your experience. |
Dancemeditation
$65/$60 (6 wks)

Dancemeditation (dancemeditation.org) is a synthesis of Sufi and modern American spiritual dance techniques, including whirling. No previous dance experience is necessary. At its core dancemeditationTM is about compassionate witness of yourself and others. It is an honoring of the life force within all living beings. It stimulates and creates safe space for emotional release and exploration of embodied spirituality. Each class begins with fluid yoga to open the body and relax the mind followed by various dancemeditation practices (http://oraculartree.com/works/dancemeditation-practices), including chanting.
Urvashi (Teresa Dunyati-Long) is a doctoral student in Neuroscience and Human Physiology at the University of Oregon. She completed Dancemeditation ™ Teacher Training (dancemeditation.org) in 2002 and holds a BFA (with Distinction) from the University of Oklahoma where she studied, filmmaking, art history, ballet and modern dance. In addition, to work with Hatha and Kundalini yoga, she has worked with Middle Eastern, Central Asian, Flamenco, Classical Persian, and African dance styles. She is the Publisher and Founder of The Oracular Tree (www.oraculartree.com), a literary Ezine presenting positive transformations of western cultural paradigms. She has written extensively on the use of Dancemeditation for creativity and problem solving. |
Gentle Beginning Yoga
Explores gentle movements to increase flexibility, strength and well-being. Students are led through stretches, yoga postures and breathing practices, then guided into deep relaxation. Ideal for those with chronic pain or stress, those returning from illness or injury, or anyone who would like a gentle approach to practicing yoga. |

NIA
Monday 4:30 PM: NIA 5 Stages of Self Healing (consecutive 4 week series, 2/24 - 3/17, $40/$38 (4wks)
This class is designed for those wanting to access their "inner healer" and renew their relationship with their body. The Nia 5 Stages class is an integrative practice based on the five stages of human development: embryonic, creeping, crawling, standing, and walking. Practiced with awareness, these stages have the power to facilitate optimal alignment, improved function and comfort in the body. Class is designed to be a meditative somatic learning experience teaching you how to blend Your Body's Way (your current state of fitness & alignment) with The Body's Way (optimal state of health & function). Through personal exploration, you will learn to lovingly guide and make choices based on seeking pleasure, not pain. Personal kneepads are required.
Nia teaches you how to physically interpret and internally direct your
actions and choices, and to listen to the voice of your body and allow
the body to be your guide in discovering Dynamic Ease. Practiced
barefoot to music, Nia is self-guided, adaptable and safe for any
ability and fitness level. Delivering cardiovascular, whole-body
conditioning, Nia is based on creating a loving relationship with the
body and following The Body’s Way – the innate intelligence of the body.
Wednesday 4:30PM: Gentle NIA (2/3 - 2/24 $40/$38 (4wks)
This is Classic NIA, taught showing easier options for intensity.
And, like all NIA classes, students are encouraged to work at their own
level, and can make this practice more challenging & aerobic, if
desired.
Nia is a non-impact, barefoot exercise technique for all ages and abilities.The benefits are myriad, including joy (emotional well-being), trunk and spine flexibility, improved balance, cardiovascular conditioning, leg strength, using up excess calories, improved posture, understanding how to move without hurting yourself, and experiencing the connection between your mind and your body. Instructor Janet Hollander applies her experience as a gerontologist to facilitate participants of any age to find a way to enjoy moving without pain or injury and to emphasize what we can do. Thursday 4:30 - 5:30: Classic NIA Series (2/4 - 2/25 $40/$38 (4wks) Saturday 9:30-10:45am: Aqua NIA Aqua NIA uses inspiring music, diverse rhythms and the nine Classic movement forms to deliver a fun, safe, creative, work out. Adaptable and safe for any ability and fitness level, Aqua NIA allows participants to guide their own practice through awareness of sensation, intention & modification. In addition to all the benefits of NIA, Aqua NIA offers: • Anonymity and privacy during workouts: no one is directly watching what is going on beneath the water. • Increased ability to focus on JOY, rather than “getting it right.” • Zero impact for those with physical restrictions; making dance possible for some who can’t dance on land. • Improved mobility & excellent strength training • A blissful workout in 92 degree salt water |

Prenatal Yoga
For pregnant women (spouses and partners are welcome, too). The class includes a mixture of balancing, strengthening and stretching poses that are appropriate during pregnancy, emphasizing breathing and relaxation. Give your baby the gift of yoga — a relaxed mom! No yoga experience is necessary. |
Restorative Yoga
$20 per session (or $38 for both) Restorative yoga will meet Fridays (2/26, 3/12), 6:00 – 8:00. Taught by Donna O’Neil Take a retreat from the busy, active requirements of life as you release into stillness. The restorative quality of this deep rest nourishes the body more fully than sleep, as well as the mind and heart. Restorative Yoga is passive and supported. It adapts to your body. Please arrive by 5:45 pm. (Please, no arrivals after 6:05 pm unless prior arrangements have been made.) Bring a blanket or two, and a bed pillow. Register early as space is limited! |
Royal Yoga (All Levels)
Andrew Royal Dugas first came to yoga through his music studies at Rice University in 1997. In 2003 he stopped playing classical music to teach yoga full-time. His very unique style of teaching is a result of a combination of passionate inquiry into the function and form of Raja Yoga and a distinct influence from his teacher and friend, Robert Boustany. His exploration of the body allows for an appropriate class for absolutely anyone, at any level, at any point in their life. You can often find students between 12 and 70 years old, pregnant goddesses, self-conscious absolute beginners and seasoned teachers in the same class, each able to be exactly at their level. The atmosphere is inclusive, non-judgmental, open, informative and empowering. |
Senior Stretch SilverSneakers®
A gentle, yet energizing program of yoga exercises and breathing, designed for Seniors, M.S. sufferers, or anyone who wants to work on flexibility and strength, without standing for long periods or sitting on the floor. Class is seated in chairs. |
Shoshi Yoga
Viniyoga arose from the practice of Sri. T. Krishnamacharya, who developed practices for individual conditions and purposes. Sri. T. Krishnamacharya is the teacher of well-known contemporary masters B.K.S. Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois and Indra Devi. His own son, T.K.V. Desikachar, continued with his principles and developed Viniyoga. Viniyoga makes use of modified yoga poses that can be designed to meet the specific needs of an individual and to enhance healing, flexibility and strength of joints. Practices may include pranayama, meditation, reflection, study and other classic elements, but the emphasis of Viniyoga is on coordinating breath and movement. |

The Heart of Yoga Series

Yoga For Dancers
Saturday, 11/14, from 1:00 - 4:00 PM Instructor: Jean Nelson This three-hour workshop will explore the dynamic relationship between dance and yoga, using anatomical and alignment principles, logical movement sequencing, and the keen awareness of the body in motion and in stillness. We will work on refining standing, seated, reclining and arm-supported postures, and incorporate them into the creation and performance of dance phrases. |
Yoga For Strength and Fitness
Get your sweat on!
This is a flow class with traditional yoga poses, conditioning exercises and the balance ball to help build strength and stamina. Using movement with breath, increase your coordination, concentration, and body awareness while calming your mind and reducing stress. Yoga/Ski (10/15-12/3)
Get ready for the ski/snowboard season with this yoga-ski series designed to get your body ski-worthy and ready for the slopes and trails! This special series will focus on body parts critical to good ski form and technique incorporating postures and exercises that will build strength, increase endurance, and improve flexibility and balance. Additionally, we will concentrate on breathing and mindfullness. By being able to concentrate on your breathing, transitioning your movements with grace, and cultivating an awareness of body balance and alignment, you will get more out of your time on the mountain and be less injury-prone. For those with a good fitness level and skiing abilities. Any level of yoga welcome. |

Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. *MSROM = Muscular Strength Range of Movement
