Watercolors by Marsha Brennan and Carolyn M. GatesAugust 1-October 31, 2008 Marsha Brennan discovered a passion for watercolor painting during the winter of 1994 and has worked to perfect her skills in it ever since. Beginning with Caroline Buchanan on Orcas Island in the San Juans, she has been privileged to study with Ron Ranson in Taos, Lian Zhen in Victoria B.C., and David Taylor and John Lovett in Bend. In 2004 she was accepted into the Watercolor Society of Oregon, and juried into the Eugene Mayor's Art Show at the Jacobs Gallery. She is currently preparing for the DIVA Artist's Open Studio Tour this coming October. www.mbrennanart.com Carolyn M. Gates is a native of Southern California and studied English at Biola University in La Mirada, CA and Art at Mira Costa College in Oceanside, CA. After working outside of the art field for a number of years she returned to artistic interests full-time in 2004. Carolyn has done a commission to paint the Stations of the Cross for St. Bede’s Episcopal Church outside Portland, Oregon. Since then she has had several private commissions including a watercolor of lupines and several colored pencil drawings of various fruits and vegetables. Most recently, she completed a commission based on images from New Zealand.
